Cor Blimey!
The weekend is fast approaching and I still haven't bought my Disneyland tickets! Hmmziggidy, I might just have to wing it. Basically, me and Tisha are gonna head out to California for a nice little weekend road trip, check out some fam-bam, hit up D-Land, and drive back Monday. Guess what that means... No SuPeR bOwL!1 (I can see Tisha fist pumping in joy) It's not even that I don't like either of the teams playing, I'm just kinda over football right now. I got bigger fish to fry (not literally... well, maybe if I try frying some fish any time soon) like getting back into shape!
Right now, my workouts are pretty weak sauce. I remember in my physical prime (around the end of senior year in HS), I could run - not jog, run - for about 20 minutes, usually covering about 3 miles before I needed to slow down and rest. Right now, I'm at 10 minutes jogging on the treadmill before my ankle starts to stiffen up. After that, I do a cycle of 5 workouts that I found in Men's Health. It's pretty tough, but I'm getting better at it - today I was actually able to do 3 full cycles (with gratuitous rest). Buuuuuuuut, that's it. After the jog and the cycles, my body is basically dead (arms, legs, and core). Eventually, I'm hoping I can add in some free-weights to get some muscle back.
Well now, I'm getting tired just thinking about this! Maybe I'll relax a little, eat some food, and make a new deck. Oh, I should mention that a deck is a Magic: The Gathering deck of cards, usually consisting of 60 overpriced pieces of card-paper. Magic is a game of wits where two wizards (or more) battle in turn-based fashion. For many, it's a big nerd rampage, but for others, it's a game of chess using millions of different pieces and strategies. Nonetheless, it's a fantastic way to pass the time. I'm hungry now, so I'll leave it at that.

Three
Alright, back to this blogging thing. I'm trying to remember to share my thoughts more often, but bloggin' ain't easy, yo. Most of my wasted time spent on the computer goes into things like old video games (D2!) or reading about the failed sports franchises that Arizona has bred. I'll skip the video game stuff for now, and move on to the Suns...
Where do I start? Well, since moving to the Valley of the Sun, the Suns have been number one in my heart (right beside you, Tisha <3). The rise and fall of this team is tough to swallow, but I've learned to cope. I got to see the days of Barkley, Backcourt 2000, and 7 Seconds or Less. Those were some fun times, however, it seems like the latest rendition of success is coming to an end. Moving on...
How 'bout them Cardinals? Make a Super Bowl and 2 years later, you're back to the number 5 pick. Damn, what a shame. Build in the draft, pick up some free agents, and bring the franchise up the right way. Let's be honest: the Cardinals struck gold with the greatest playoff QB and HoF'er in Kurt Warner. Those 4 playoff wins are HIS, and the team really had nothing to fall back on when he left. Oh well, try again next year.
I'm not an avid baseball or hockey fan, but the Diamondbacks and Coyotes are actually good stories. Considering the DBacks are only 12 years old and already have 4 NL West titles and a World Series win, that's not bad for a franchise. The Coyotes were never given a good chance in the desert, but they've made the best of it (besides all that Wayne Gretzky shenanigans).
This leaves me with my secret fascination... the Phoenix Mercury (women's pro basketball). With 2 titles in 13 years (and coming close 3 other times), they are the success story in the desert. Not only that, they're fun as hell to watch. They play the same system as the Suns (run, shoot, repeat) but are much more successful due to the overall balance (or lack) of athleticism in the league. Seriously, I encourage anyone to go to a game. Hell, I've been to 3 for free and every seat is lower section! And they serve beer! And there are some good looking ones (seriously) out there (almost as good-looking as Tisha <3)!
So, if you're not quite the sports fanatic but still want a fun team to watch, your best bet is the Suns. They're the winning-est team to never win a championship, so we're due soon.
And I'm out, check back at Four!

Two
Ahem, let me try this again...
It's been exactly one year since my first post, so I've got lots of catching up to do. I can't remember what any of my resolutions for 2010 were, but I'm guessing "stop working out" and "forget how to do math" shouldn't be there. Nonetheless, 2010 was one of the greatest transition years of my life! Where to start, hmm? Wait a minute, I never really did start, so allow myself to introduce... myself.
My name is AJ - or Allen, Alan, Adrien, Ajota, Ajax, whatever - Nelson. I grew up in California, Hawaii, Colorado, and Arizona. Most of my learning came from Arizona, so we'll pretend that I was "born'n'raised" here. I'll take a moment to warn the audience that I have strong geek/nerd/dork tendencies, mixed with obsessive homer-ism for Arizona sports teams. Anyway, I don't consider myself "gifted", but I was an excellent student by today's education measures. I figured out very early that hard work leads to less work, so I never messed around when it came to homework/tests/projects. I was great at math and physics, because my brain has the inability to forget anything with equations and graphs, however I frequently forget what I ate for dinner the night before. So, this led to graduating from Arizona State with a Bachelors in Aerospace Engineering and a job at Orbital. Whew, I bet that was boring to read. Too bad, sucker, I bet you will read it again. Oops, that's mean. Let's move on.
Occasionally, I'll bring up subjects that are lame to some people, including Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Magic the Gathering, Chinups, Anime, Warcraft, Battlestar Galactica, Cardinals' defensive schemes, and Suns' Player Efficiency Rating. If it's boring, don't read it.
Alright, back to 2010. It was the first full year that I had zero school. That hasn't happened in... a long time. So, along with school went my math (since physics is kiiiiinda my job, that's still there). Living in Tempe, things were good, but Rudy (my over-dramatic Pug) had to stay inside the condo all dang day while Tisha (my lovely girlfriend) and I were at work. So, it was decided that we would get another dog, named Marty (the absent minded Boston Terrier). That solved one problem, but created another... Now, there were two dogs living in a cooped up space. So, it was time to look for a house. I'll keep the story short: I found a house in Gilbert and bought it. Done.
Wait, what? I got a house? Isn't that crazy?! Nah, it's actually easy if you aren't incompetent, especially with the fancy interwebz. Just take control of your spending and the mortgage payments are manageable (a lot less than most people pay rent for small apartments). New dog: check, new house: check, but now a new problem presented itself... nobody lives in Gilbert! Well, that'll work itself out, I suppose.
I turned 24 in October, but that's no big deal. Age is just a number, right? I still feel like I'm 18, except about 35 pounds heavier and paying way more bills. So, I need to get back running, or join a football team, or start wrestling again. Holiday season was kinda the same as usual, except all of my Christmas presents were totally practical: no DVDs, no video games, just tools and clothes. That brings me to my 2011 resolutions:
1) Get into shape, you lazy bum
2) Keep the house clean
3) Get those pesky wisdom teeth out
4) No more soda or candy, you aren't 11 anymore
That's all for today, see you at Three!
